There’s something extra personal feeling about the pain and frustration in Low Cut Connie’s, “Look What They Did.” It’s an underdog’s ballad, lamenting the lively promise and then slow death of Atlantic City. Bruce Springsteen wrote about a couple escaping it in his song that bears the city’s name, but Low Cut Connie writes about those stuck there, left behind.

It’s an obvious raw spot for singer and Jersey native Adam Weiner. You don’t write a song like this without first-hand experience. Low Cut Connie isn’t exactly known for their ballads, but with earned heartache like this, maybe they will be.
