A Plan Is A Surfboard

It all starts with a plan. Here’s a Don Miller-ism for talking to people about getting organized (paraphrased):

A plan is a surfboard. Imagine you’re in the ocean and there’s a wave coming. You can feel it start. You can see it rising. You can feel the swell. Now, you can either choose to get on the board and ride the wave OR just float in the water as the wave moves on without you. It’s that simple.

Having a plan is the only way to catch the wave intentionally. Without one, you’ll have to wait and see where the current takes you. Both are choices.
