All Fear And No Creativity Makes Work Dull

A classic Dave Trott-ism on how people who are afraid to be interesting, working for companies who are afraid to take risks, makes for incredibly dull work.

This one hits home for me right now in a big way.

And not just because the fear of (finally) doing creative work in public is very, very real. But because it’s exciting to know fear and creativity go hand in hand to make interesting, engaging, and inspiring work.

Here’s the quote (h/t @trottbot)

Most creatives are frightened of getting it wrong.

So the frightened account men and frightened planners are trying to make the frightened creatives safe work even safer.

And then everyone’s surprised there’s so much dull work around.
