Cultish Creative Weekly Recap (1/11/2025)
all of those 1's can only mean 1 thing
Cataloging the week, and it’s extra special because it’s 1/11:
I finished counting down the rest of my favorite 2024 Just Press Record clips, all summarized in one episode right here:
We released an Intentional Investor episode for Epsilon Theory with Dr. Preston Cherry, in part to celebrate the release of his (fantastic) book, Wealth in the Key of Life: Finding Your Financial Harmony, but more deeply to understand the influence his parents had on him, the evolution of his career(s), straight up to how he’s thinking of life as a new parent now - especially with all of his financial, behavioral, and psychological certifications. I love hearing smart people self-reflect like this. Plus, so many music and pop culture references…
This was a massive personal box check for me - Liz Ann Sonders, Chief Investment Strategist for Charles Schwab, 40+ year market veteran, and one-time partner/protégé to Marty Zweig - joined Justin Carbonneau and I on Excess Returns. She’s just. so. articulate. Even if you don’t watch the interview, jump to the end, I got a “nobody’s ever asked me that?!” response from her. 2025 is coming up Milhouse.
In the Personal Archive, I filed away notes on:
Why we have to look at our social media activity as “leaving breadcrumbs.”
A reflection on high-quality relationships and how you reinforce them. In part, by going where you feel tugged to go (i.e. funerals, friends giving special presentations, etc.), but also by always making sure we have genuinely high-quality relationships with a small group of people in and around our immediate families (which, I haven’t always done so well, so read this and try to get inspired, if you relate).
I am trying to better understand (re: feel, experience, plan into my day) more moments of true presence. Funny enough, recording the YouTube stuff has actually been a massive awareness shift for me, especially considering how much I’ve missed this type of focus. It’s very reminiscent of my favorite parts of studio work years ago. But, feeling the call to be present, and feeling the feels when you’re not - this lightning bolt moment was truly profound for me to hear so I had to capture it.
Any favorites? Any thoughts? Any new things I should look at?
