Earn Your Fans (Bielsa At Leeds Edition)

When Marcelo Bielsa took over as head coach for Leeds, the first question he asked his players was “how much does a ticket cost?” The second question he asked was, “how much, per hour, does our average fan earn?”

And so the first activity he coached his players through was to pick up litter in and around their stadium for the amount of time their average fan spent working to pay for a ticket to one game. 

If the fans work this hard to watch you play, you better play hard enough to earn those ticket sales. 

We’re all in the position we’re in because of the clients who are paying us to be there. We can’t forget it.
