If You Only Build It, They Won’t Come

“If you build it, they will come.”

That statement isn’t exactly true. It should read, “If you build it, if you tell them why they should care about it, and if they believe you, then they will come.”

If we only build, how is anyone supposed to know to come?

We might be capable of doing the greatest work in the world, but if we only do it for ourselves, it’ll only ever be a hobby.

If you only build it, they won’t come. So build something worth talking about. Get out there and talk about it. Then and only then, they will come.

*This is another Donald Miller-ism. It’s a riff on a note I made while reading his book, “Business Made Simple.”
