Michael Caine On The Upside Of Being In A Terrible Movie
More Jaws The Revenge Trivia for you
The interviewer is asking Michael Caine about buying his mother her first house and what it was like for him.
Of course, he tells him, it was wonderful.
Even though his mom worried desperately he couldn’t afford it.
But how did he buy the house?
This is a lesson in what you trade your time for.
This is a lesson in what you do when life compensates you well for lemons.
This is a lesson in deriving the best possible experience from any delivered outcome.
That was incredible for me, for my mother to have a house, because we always lived/grew up in counsel houses…
One of the worst pictures I did was Jaws IV. Jaws The Revenge. I had little part in that, and I was paid a million dollars for two weeks work. And, with that money, I bought her the house.
Somebody said to me, “I saw that Jaws IV, it stinks!” I said, “I haven’t seen it, but I’ve seen the house it bought my mother and it’s marvelous!”
How great is Michael Caine, seriously?! Clip below so you can hear him tell it. And, one of my other all-time favorite Michael Caine stories on learning to “use the difficulty” right here.
