Poetic Revolutions (Rebecca Solnit Edition)

This quote kisses the cheek of the artist in me –

“I still think the (real) revolution is to make the world safe for poetry, meandering, for the frail and vulnerable, the rare and obscure, the impractical and local and small.” – Rebecca Solnit

In no small way, it’s because the business person in me feels the weight of this anti-quote –

“I still think the (real) revolution is to make the world stop worrying about fluff, get us all on track for once, build it stronger and bigger, figure out what’s really valuable, and scale it UP.” – Beckie Soulshit

The revolution is in the reminder that we still have to do the work. That it’s always a fight and always a struggle. That it’s a war we will fight together, not because we’ll end war itself, and not for the spoilings or less virtuous reasons. But because we know it’s a fight we have to engage in with the courage to win all the small victories we can.

However we can. Wherever we can. Whenever we can.

Revolt.
