Practice, Persistence, And Patterns

Learning to play music growing up gave me three particular gifts that have kept showing up in life. Both in my career, and in life in general. You don’t think of that when you’re a kid trying to pluck a few notes out in frustrated solitude.

Music taught me:

How to practice,

The value of persistence, and that

Patterns are everywhere.

It’s no surprise these repeat. You don’t get good at anything without practice. Practice is persistently working something out. In the process of repetition, you internalize the patterns.

Repeat, repeat, repeat.
