Sunday Music: Nostalgia and Hybrid Moments

Sometimes I get annoyed when a show or an album is pandering for nostalgia, but sometimes it just works.

I started the new Stephen King universe adaptation, “Castle Rock” this week.

So far it’s intriguing, but I can’t help but wonder if the miscellaneous King references will help or hold it back. I’m not a super fan so I assume there are lots of details that will slip past me, but the few major themes I’ve already caught are more distracting than value-adding.

I imagine for his biggest fans, these nostalgia nuggets make for a lot of fun.

The part that made me smile the most in episode one was not from his repertoire, but the needle drop of “Hybrid Moments” by the Misfits. It triggered a several day Misfits session that normally only occurs in October.

Either way, I’m intrigued by the show.
