Sunday Music: Sonny Side Up and Geek’d Up

Dizzy Gillespie does my favorite version of “On the Sunny Side of the Street” leading off the album Sonny Side Up. Talking about the story of the song itself got me to revisit the whole album and I’m glad I did. “Eternal Triangle” smokes. Literally. Listening to them trade off of one another in the solos – nobody does hard bop like that.

In a completely different vein, “don’t get geek’d up / might get beat up” is an amazing line. I’m not in the Bhad Bhabie fan-club as of yet, but I am entertained. Please accept this future apology, re: anyone I see struggling to think through a complicated problem that I tell to not get geek’d up going forward. I already know I can’t resist.
