The Models Don’t Always Work

The smallest process doesn’t always work at the grandest scale.

The forces that define the atomic structure of the wood in my table aren’t the same as the forces that determine the gravity holding it down on the planet’s surface.

There are limits of scale for different models, and we should look for them. We should learn about them.

Not just to apply them, but to avoid misapplying them. Nothing works all of the time, and that’s a rather wonderful thing.
