The Secret To More Good Ideas Is…

If you want more good ideas, you have to start with more ideas. Regular, terrible, brilliant – any and all ideas count.  

Up the overall quantity, then dig for overwhelming quality. 

Idea generation becomes an essential step. Podcasts are one of my personal favorite sources.

One thing I love about my Spotify podcast feed is I can oversubscribe to shows, browse everything new from my selections, and then selectively save episodes I want to hear. I have more options than ever, and my ability to cut through to what I want to hear or what I want to try has never been faster. 

It’s led to a better discovery experience, and hopefully, better output. 

There’s a Herbert Simon quote often only partially quoted, 

What information consumes is rather obvious: it consumes the attention of its recipients. Hence, a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.

If you just have too much, you won’t be able to focus. But if you start with too much and learn how to filter down to enough, you can work wonders. 

Curation, for ourselves (and others) is a superpower.
