The Shithole Heard Round the World

Trump, for better or for worse, provides us with endless case studies. This time it was a message in a (Molotov cocktail) bottle hurled into the center of the DACA discussion. Per the analysis we’ve been discussing this week, the comment took a branded message to a controlled social group (in which his audience is all of humanity with access to the internet, courtesy of modern media and twitter), which then took a participatory pivot as everyone reacted.

HE says whatever HE says. WE all then discuss whatever WE will off of his prompt. His messages practically FORCE the pivot. Think what you will about the content, but the packaging turns it into “Look What You Made Me Do” on steroids. It worms its way into every conversation.
