- Why Do We Fall, Bruce?
Why Do We Fall, Bruce?
“Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.”
Advice from Bruce Wayne’s dad.
And advice Batman repeatedly hears as struggles to hold onto and protect his code.
Falling is just a reason to get back up.
As true in Batman as it is in Ted Lasso.*
If you have something you believe in, you have something to get back up for.
And it doesn’t have to be an ideal, or a god, or a one true way, or any of that stuff.
It just has to be something you believe is worth getting back up for.
It’s a strange experience to look at times in your life where you didn’t get back up in this context too.
Because sometimes when you don’t believe in something you really will just lay there. If the code isn’t worth protecting, what’s the use?
But the minute you do – Father Wayne, come tell us to save ourselves.
*ps. as obfuscated/avoided as it is in Succession?
