Cultish Creative Weekly Recap (10/12/2024)

introverts, extroverts, and extra-inner works

It’s amazing how much you can learn just by talking to strangers. I know that’s the whole premise of Just Press Record, but even if you don’t do venture capital, or marketing, or anything Matthew Stafford or Mack Ackermann do in their regular lives, their tips for interacting with the world is nothing sort of other-worldly.

I need to get Guy Spier to do an Intentional Investor at some point, but in the mean time, here’s Jack Forehand and I running down some of his biggest ideas from an older interview he did with Jack:

Here’s also a recent chat Justin Carbonneau and I did with Ben Carlson for Excess Returns on his essay, “15 Ways to Lose Money” (and I don’t care what he says, you can still be Warren Buffett, even if it’s just for Halloween):

Posts you might have missed:

I did a track by track dive into Fontaines D.C.’s latest record (one of my favorites of the year so far).

Media-bias is annoying. In this political season though, learn to think of it like sports-talk radio and try not to kill each other over your home teams. Even though the Phillies are out, this idea as highlighted by the Fox Sports MLB-post season announcers, lord, let us at least have a laugh.

F*** your AI, “chat” in life, work, and yes, podcasts, is about relationships. Even the para-social ones. I have faith AI might even make it better (ps. you did read the Ben Hunt piece on AI as a resurrection machine, right?! If you need a boost over a paywall to see, just ask).

There’s too much crap. You can’t watch, or listen to, or read it all. Trust me, I’ve tried (and am still trying, let’s be honest, BUT). This is why you need a wide funnel with a tight filter.
