Why is toast the littlest bit more fancy when you cut it diagonal?

I wish I did a side by side comparison here but - I didn’t realize what was happening in the moment. Use your imagination and picture a square cut, then tell me I’m wrong:

There’s a million metaphors to this. Something else I’m doing on the daily needs a diagonal cut, too.

What’s the diagonal cut in an edit, or an email, or a post, or a written note to the dog-sitter, or…

I can feel it in my bones. It’s not just the turkey bacon talking. There are choices to notice and make.

And the funniest thing, to me, is that it’s not even a question of effort?
