I’m still upset the hustle culture people made network feel like a gross word.
You meet other people, you get into some depth of conversation with them, and you learn new things about yourself.
You get network effects from relationships - and it’s so helpful when and where you’re trying to grow.
On Cultish Creative here, I have a whole section of posts I started about a year ago called Grow Your Network. The idea is pretty simple. I take guests from my podcasts, extract some quotes I wanted to think about a bit deeper, and I do just that.
I pick a work related quote. I pick a life related quote. I pick a legacy related quote.
The idea is - I get something about how people trade their time for money, something about how they spend their time away from work, and one more thing about the mark on the world they’re attempting to leave.
And then I package it up in one of these posts with the hope (and intention) somebody else might use it in the same way.
I include all the info for the guest - so you can read it and get in touch or passively follow along on their socials, etc. - and I give you some core, foundational ideas, about who they are.
I want to spend more time reflecting on these so I’m trying something new.
What follows is a special combo Grow Your Network Just Press Record special episode where I drew quotes from 3 of the most popular episodes of 2026 so far.
We have Bogumil Baranowski and Tony Greer talking about money and portfolios and investments for Work.
We have Brianna Collins and Allison Wolfe talking about making music and art and the scenes they grew up in for Life.
And, we have Michael Perry and Aaron Gwyn talking about being writers, teachers, and good citizens for Legacy.
I’m putting this here for two purposes.
#1 I want you to connect with these people, if they’re of interest to you.
#2 I want you to take a minute and reflect on these ideas.
Do it because we don’t take enough time to stop and think. Ponder it before bed or in the shower. Just - take some time to reflect and connect, because at this point in human history, we all could use it now more than ever.
Let me know what you think of this format! I had fun making it and might try to do this more often.
