So You Have Some Weird Tastes (Lean Into It)
It's not just you. My dogs are weird too.
I don’t know why my dog, Otis, likes edamame.
But he loves it.
Like, he LOVES it.
He’s psychically aware of its presence in a room.
He knows how to dissect the beans from the pod somehow, instinctively.
Now, he’s part Shih Tzu so, maybe there really is something genetic here…
But maybe he’s just weird and this is his thing?
Jack, our other (and newer) dog, never had edamame until the other night.
It could have been a “my big brother is eating this so I am going to eat it too” thing.
It’s probably not his Mexican or German genetic heritage, that’s for sure.
And unlike carrots, which Jack DOES NOT like, he loves edamame now.
He figured out how to eat it right away too.

Otis (left) and Jack (right) have refined tastes.
My wife and I are very amused by this.
Not so amused as we’ll do this every night now.
But amused enough that, whatever this weird treat is that gets them all excited, such is life.
This is the kind of stuff that makes life worth living.
Be a little weird.
Have a little treat.
Go a little wild.
Just try not to bite anybody’s fingers off (they would never) and don’t choke on a pod.
Life is better with some weird in it.
