Tell Me Your Story: Deep Listening With Brad Fisher And Chris Grimes On JUST PRESS RECORD
the insultant meets the motivational comedian!
When you do consulting work with Brad Fisher, you quickly realize he’s always starting off with “Tell me your story.” It’s, of course, strategic. He’s learned this from working with a million businesses and family offices and non-profits, etc. over the years. He does it because it allows for the person across the table from him to relax, retain control, and feel like they’re in a psychologically safe space.
When you do consulting work with Chris Grimes, you quickly realize he starts off by letting you know he believes the most valuable thing he can offer a business, or family, or individual, is “a good listening to.” In a transactional and fast paced world, his attention and curiosity is in finite supply, and he’s ready to lend it out. And given his theatrical and comedic background, he makes sharing a lot of fun too.
I wanted to get Brad and Chris together to hear them talk about this. I’m wildly passionate about this listening and attention thing too. The attention economy, so to speak, is all about attention at scale. But the type of attention they offer, at the one-to-one level, it’s not only so rare and in such short supply, but I feel like people don’t recognize how wonderful it feels until they’re experiencing it.
And I want to see more of that in the world.
So I introduced them on the latest Just Press Record.
They listen. They don’t impose narrative. They don’t fix anything.
They just help the story come out.
And what emerges? Ideas. Clarity. Change.
Plus, in Brad and Chris’ cases, their businesses emerge, too.
You need to hear this to get it. It’s about listening. It’s about the experience of being listened to. And it’s the collective decades of professional experience they’ve both had, that’s driving their doubling (and maybe even quadrupling down) on this topic now:
