This is just such a wild Panoptica Storyboard that I had to share it again (and drop it here, from my note: “Monoculture is Dead. Long Live Mini-Cultures.”):

Basically, the media is so disenfranchised with what used to be one of the dominant forms/sources of entertainment that the highs for this signature (meaning how many times articles/posts appear referencing this story framed this way determines how high the line gets) that we keep seeing higher highs in it’s output each time it enters the zeitgeist again.

This is THE opportunity for anybody doing creative work.

No, you are not going to have the reach of Hollywood.

NOT EVEN CLOSE.

But, in terms of the death of monoculture and long live mini-cultures, you have so much less competition from Hollywood right now.

It’s our time to make stuff.

I keep hearing from Just Press Record guests about how special it is to find genuine connection in that format.

I know the show will never be Rogan-huge, but I don’t know if even Rogan has the type of singular person level impact I know I can have.

Which is weird, and not at all a flex, but completely conducive to this mini-cultures theme.

There’s nothing wrong with an audience of two. Especially if you put all of your effort into making it an incredible feeling when you’re part of it.

Think smaller.

Hollywood is broken.

Fill the tiny gap right under your nose in front of you with everything and anything you’ve got, and invite your friends to join in.

I’m doing my part, what have you got?

(Seriously - send me what you’ve got or tag me on LinkedIn or Twitter!)

ps. Make stuff - and not just with AI, either. Like, really make it. With you it it. From the heart or the soul or the brain or the YOU.

Take the Dave Nadig lesson on Quark’s Replicator to heart, please. I’ll write a follow-up post on this one.

As Dave puts it, “The challenge as a creator is to distinguish craft from codes.” You can use the new tools to help refine your message, to some degree, but just knowing that even if your reach will be inherently smaller, there’s an advantage in keeping it maximally human.

More reminders of this.

Long live the mini-cultures.
