Cultish Creative Weekly Recap (12/21/2024)
fancy words with deep meanings, shallow meanings in search of fancy words, and more!
I don’t suggest stuffing an existential crisis in your stocking.
But,
I do suggest listening to Dylan O’Sullivan dig deep into his work as an editor, as well as recall memories from his middle school years, and Luca Dellanna explaining what a cancer diagnosis taught him about life, and how he’s kept lifelong friendships together.
Rock around the X-mas tree, where X is merely a variable for existentialism and ergodicity, on Just Press Record:
For my investing friends, I had to joy of talking about practical lessons learned from ex-Bridgewater, but very thoughtful macro thinker Andy Constan with Jack Forehand, and then Just Carbonneau and I had a chat with the brilliant Bob Elliott about the mysterious $300 billion hedge fund pod shop business.
Yes, I got way too focused on the history of Chicken McNuggets while talking about Bridgewater, as always.
And, to Bob’s amusement (or confusion), I started to understand pod shops as food court stands in the mall’s of yesteryear, which I’m sure pod shop proprietors would love to be compared to, and now I’m craving an Orange Julius something fierce.
Posts you might have missed:
Talking to Jason Buck a bunch lately means I have Buckshot thoughts on my brain.
Stevie Wonder is back in regular rotation because Dr. Preston Cherry just released his book, Wealth in the Key of Life. Intentional Investor about this out next year, and I’ll likely be recording a review of it (it’s fantastic).
Sharing feelings in public is weird. I think about this a lot.
Did a friend give me s*** for letting the plumber install a toilet and did I write this, maybe a touch passive aggressively, after reflecting (and defending) why? Yes. But seeing DIY and SEPDT on a continuum is also really useful for the rest of life (beyond plumbing) too.
